Established in 1988, Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary spans 9.37 sq. km in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal District and serves as a vital refuge for diverse bird, reptile, and mammal species. Known especially for its efforts in conserving the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard, the sanctuary is one of the few in India dedicated to protecting this magnificent bird. Rollapadu is also a habitat for the Lesser Florican, another endangered species, along with a variety of other wildlife, including blackbucks, foxes, and numerous bird species. The sanctuary’s efforts contribute to preserving India’s biodiversity and promoting awareness around the need for wildlife conservation.
